What you need to know about the curriculum-based language courses

Language courses (or lektoraty, as we call them in Polish) are provided by the AGH University of Krakow subject to the provisions of AGH Senate Resolution no. 57/2019 on the principles of teaching foreign languages at the AGH University of Krakow (24 April 2019).
We require that you continue the language you took at your end-of-secondary school exam (Matura/ A-Levels) until you have successfully passed our B2 or C1 exam, unless you have registered one of the international language certificates officially recognized for exemption from lektorat. First-cycle (undergraduate) students will start the course at B1+, B2 or C1 level, depending on their language competence at the moment of commencing the course. Upon completion, you will sit our centralised exam and will be awarded a B2 or C1 language competence certificate, depending on the course you have finished. If you have been awarded an official exemption based on the registered certificate or you have passed our early B2 exam (after the first semester of the course) you may enrol on any language /level course provided by SJO or continue the same language with a C1 group.
If you are a second-cycle (Master’s) student, you will attend a one-semester technical language course in the same language as the one you did at your first-cycle programme, unless your Faculty decides otherwise. Upon completion of the language course you will sit the final exam and if you pass it, you will receive a B2+ certificate of competence in language for specific purposes.
Language competence certificates are issued to regular and doctoral students as well as the University staff subject to the relevant AGH Rector’s Order (ZARZĄDZENIE Nr 35/2017 Rektora Akademii Górniczo-Hutniczej im.
