Information for 1st year full time undergraduate students (Year of entry 2024/2025)
starting their language course in the summer semester of the academic year 2024/2025

You are kindly reminded that the language courses will begin in the 2024/2025 summer semester.

The language groups will be formed based on the “matura” or other school leaving examination certificates.

The enrolment procedures as well as certificate registration will commence on the 21st January 2025. Detailed information about the registration procedures will be sent in January 2025.

I. Students who will participate in language classes (do not have a B2 or higher
(CEF scale) foreign language certificate)

Unless otherwise stated in the faculty regulations, the language studied in the compulsory course will be the one chosen at the school leaving examination. Students who took their school leaving examinations in two languages may choose their language course, e.g. students who passed their exams in English and French may declare their willingness to take a course in English or in French.

II. Students who have a B2 or higher (CEF scale) foreign language certificate not older than 3 years on the day the course begins (i.e. not older than February 2022) listed in Appendix 2 to the new AGHSenate Resolution no. 57/2019 of 24th April 2019 (list of certificates - link).

Undergraduate students who have a certificate listed in Appendix 2 to the new AGH Senate Resolution no. 57/2019 dated 24th April 2019, may submit an application to be exempted from the foreign language course and the exam and their final grade will be awarded based on the certificate.

After registering the certificate, the students may participate in an optional foreign language course either continuing the language listed in the certificate or choosing another language – within the limit of 135 teaching hours (at any level, including beginners), without the obligation to pass an exam.
In such cases, this information is to be provided during the registration procedure in January 2025.

III. Information for students who are returning from their Dean’s leave or have obtained a conditional promotion without the language credit.
